Mr.Somasundaram is the Managing Director and CEO of Lakshmi Vilas Bank (LVB), a private sector scheduled commercial bank headquartered in Karur , with a strong presence in the South for over 8 decades and is currently operating with 274 branches, more than 391 ATMs, 2950 staff and a customer base of over 1.8 million customers. Mr.Somasundaram joined LVB in August 2010 from Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) where his last assignment was that of Managing Director and CEO of the India Equities Broking and Investment Banking Subsidiary - Standard Chartered - STCI Capital Markets Limited.
Mr. Somasundaram brings with him experience of over 25 years in FMCG and Banking. He joined Standard Chartered Bank as the Head of Finance and Strategy for wholesale banking India, later the Head of Finance for the bank in India, followed by Head of Strategic Initiatives for South Asia and India Head for NBFI subsidiaries before acquiring and managing the equities subsidiary.
Mr. Somasundaram has been a member of the India Manco of Standard Chartered Bank and has also been a co-head of the banking and finance sub-committee of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce.
Prior to SCB, Mr. Somasundaram spent 14 years with Hindustan Unilever Limited and Unilever in a variety of roles in India and the UK, including corporate accounting, factory commercial, commodity buying, creating and managing the cold chain for the frozen foods business in India, commercial management of frozen foods business in the U.K , M&A and Strategy.
Mr. Somasundaram is a Chartered and Cost Accountant from India with a post graduation in Management Accountancy.
